Enable GST Portal API Access

To let Laabam One file and sync your GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, etc.), the GST portal must allow API access for your GST portal username. If it is not enabled, GSTN blocks the OTP request and you will see this error when you click Authenticate:

API access is not available or user expiry Duration is less than or equal to auth token expiry duration (GSTN error AUTH4037)

This is a one-time setting you control on the GST portal — it is not a Laabam One issue, and no software can bypass it. It takes about 2 minutes.

Who can do this?

Anyone who can log in to gst.gov.in for this GSTIN — usually the taxpayer, the primary authorized signatory, or your accountant.

Steps

  1. Go to https://www.gst.gov.in and log in with the same GST portal username you enter in Laabam One (for example a username like GST1631346242NG).

  2. Click your profile / username at the top right, then open My Profile.

  3. In the left menu (under Quick Links / Manage API Access), open Manage API Access.

  4. Set "Enable API Request" to Yes.

  5. Choose a Duration. Pick the longest option available (for example 30 days, or 6 months if shown).

    Choose a long duration

The second half of the AUTH4037 error — "user expiry Duration is less than or equal to auth token expiry duration" — happens when the duration you pick is too short. Always choose the longest available period so the API token Laabam One requests fits inside it.

  6. Click Confirm (or Save).

That's it. API access is now enabled for your GSTIN.

Finish in Laabam One

  1. Go back to Laabam One → GST → GSTR-1 (or whichever return you were filing).
  2. Click Authenticate.
  3. Enter the same GST portal username and click Send OTP.
  4. Enter the 6-digit OTP sent to the taxpayer's registered mobile / email.

You are now connected and can sync and file your returns.

Still seeing the error?

  • Wait 2–5 minutes after saving on the GST portal — GSTN can take a short while to apply the change, then try Authenticate again.
  • Duration expired? API access is time-limited. If it was enabled earlier but expired, repeat the steps above and set a fresh (long) duration.
  • Right username? Make sure the username in Laabam One is the exact GST portal username (the one you log in to gst.gov.in with), not the GSTIN.
  • GSTIN active? The registration must be Active (not cancelled/suspended) on the GST portal.

If it still fails after all of the above, contact support@laabam.app with your GSTIN and the exact error message shown.
